"All three years feature two core modules covering practical and theoretical work. We encourage you to develop your own interests and express your viewpoints, imagination and visual skills within specialist areas such as:

Sheffield Hallam University
BA (Honours) Graphic Design

I have chosen to do a review on this university's course because it is one of the closest and easiest to get to from where i live. Which will mean i will be able to travel each day, so that i will be saving money on accommodation fees.
On the course you can chose to specialise in: Advertising, Illustration, Structural Graphics, Typography, moving imagery and also just graphic design.

"The course emphasises the generation of new and memorable ideas, led by informed and independent design thinking. This becomes the basis of your creative process. Other study topics can include printmaking, life drawing and photography."
University of Leeds

I have been looking into my further education at university. I have been looking into graphic design at several universities and this one has caught my eye.
This is a 3 year full time course and at the end i will achieve a BA (Hons) degree. To gain a placement in this course i will need A-level qualifications or equivalent including GCSEs.

Below is a list of subjects that i will be studying throughout the whole course which i found on the Leeds university website:

Simon cook

Featured in the Creative Review magazine
September 2010
Simon Cook has graduated from a Graphic Design Nottingham Trent University in 2010. he has grduated just this year and is already set up in the working world.

I like this image because it is made from simple shapes but is very effective. Simon has used lots of bright bold colours. He has used a black and white image of a man wearing a suit in the middle of the page a vintage style image.

"The distinctive look of cook's work has already led to a number of work placements, including work at Skew design studio in London, Noodoll illustration studio, and at swedish fashion magazine Bon."

He has set up his own company which is called Stone and Spear. On the Stone and Spear website there is a wide range of projects from flyers, stickers logos and T-shirt designs.

'Modern Toss was founded by Jon Link and Mick Bunnage as a mischievous website in 2002, since when it has grown into a publishing empire whose tentacles reach every corner of contemporary life'

Modern Toss have used typography with a mix of humor to create this part of the article. It is showing several different types of punctuation speaking to each other in a comic strip layout . Jon and Mick have made this article relevant to today and our everyday lifestyle.

'The first printed editions of the modern toss comics acquired a cult following after their publication in 2004.'

A.Games

This is my favorite image(s) from the Abram Games exhibition which was at the Sheffield Institute of Arts Gallery. This is showing the sketch of his image and the final outcome which is a poster/logo for Guinness. He also did work for: London Transport, The United Nations and Shell, Postage stamps and coffee makers. Throughout his exhibition there is a mix of his original artwork, Posters and Film.

This is another piece of Abram Games' work which is another part of the Guinness collection that i also like. I like this because you can look at it from 3 different angles what will still make sense, such as looking at it normally it is the letter G for the Guinness, if you then flip it upside down it is a 5 for the 5 million and if you looked at it from the right side it is Daily. overall it will read Guinness, 5million daily.
